Research for music video -  Carol Vernallis

Carol Vernallis' research focuses mainly on the way that music videos are edited. she has found that the cuts made between shots have a tendency to match the rhythm of the song. She has also found that continuity rules in editing are broken, meaning alot more jump cuts than you would see in any other form of media. Furthermore base track are often used to create a variety of shots to be used at any particular moment when editing the video, as well as provide plenty of footage for fast cuts to be more viable.

The official music video for 'Drunk' by Ed Sheeran is a great example of this.
