Mise-En-Scene: in the original video of this music i have recognized that the use of mise-en-scene is not that effectively obvious however, factors such as the body language of the actor seems to be effective as he dances he tends to move and dance to the beat which is being played; this is effective on the audience as it seems interesting and not many videos have this body language use. Also, as the beat gets faster so does the movement of the dancer does as well. in addition, as the music goes on and when the lyrics gets to the part about the female the dancer goes next to his girlfriend, so we can see that the lyrics match what is happening on screen. nevertheless as the music progresses the actors costume and the setting tends to get more 'rich' for example, in the begining the actor tends to wake up with no vest on a bed which is outside his house, and slowly he gets changed and he enters 3 different houses with each getting more better and clean in an order. from starting the day with no vest outside a 'working-class' house he tends to end the video in a 'middle-class' mansion with a suit and tie with plenty of food and expensive goods surrounded him. in addition, at the end of the video where he is in the mansion the lighting tends to change completely and we have much more brighter and comfortable shots unlike the begining where it was really dull.
i am not sure if its done in purpose but when the actor changes his clothes and he changes completely apart from his body language his apperance changes as well and he tends to have a fresh look including his hair?
Sound- in the use of sound the video consists of both music and sound from the scene. for example, even though throughout the video Ed Sheeren tends to be singing, sometimes the music stops and sound is left to the background of the setting, e.g. at 2:00 the music stops and we could hear the birds humming and the car going past whihc Ed Sheeren is in, its attention catching as the fast pace stops suddenly and we wonder why it has and just then its when we see the artist who sings the song this would be effective on the audience as its an interesting technique. in addition, when the actor jumps in the pool the music played is given the effect to make it sound like its been played under the water.
Camera- the camera tends to follow the beat of the music as well, because one major thing thats really effective is that everytime the chorus hits in, the camera shots tend to be free hand and move much faster, and even if not those the shots tends to change every two counts on the beat. many shots are used such as long shot, mid-shot, close-ups and etc, but the most used type is free-hand movement and i think this is because it relates to the genre and rythm of the music as well.
Setting- as said on the mise en scene section as well the setting tends to change slowly and in order as the music forwards, the setting in the begining was a poor place and the actor found himself infront of a house waking up on a bed which isnt really clean, then to a mansion full of expensive goods inside it.
