Filming Equipment

For filming we have decided to use our own equipment opposed to the college's as this gives us more flexibility with filming times and days as well as being generally more portable.

For the capture we are using a Fujifilm Finepix HS10 bridge camera which is light and highly portable, meaning that it can be used more efficiently when repositioning for takes as well as make it generally more usable in the filming locations we have chosen (parties, buses, trains). It does however suffer slightly in quality when compared to the cameras used by the college, but this is a barely noticeable factor, as well as the fact that you cannot adjust focus while filming.

For taking pictures of the filming process we are using an Olympus E3 DSLR camera. we would have rather used this to film due to it having a much better resolution that the bridge, as well as an interchangeable telescopic lens which would have been great for filming, however due to it being an old camera it does not have a record function therefore we could not use it for the recording of our video.

For our tripod we are using a Vivitar standard tripod. This is by no means the most sturdy tripod on the market but its extremely small size when folded and light aluminium frame makes it very easy to transport and it can double up as a fig-rig.

Lastly we have thought about using a Go Pro camera for some of the shots, however we decided that using two different cameras will make the video look poorly made (like the Go Pro filmed river scene from the second Hobbit movie, ugh that looked terrible). Also we could not think of any way to justify the use of such a camera in our urban themed video as jumping into water or buildings would not be safe or fit into the narrative.
